Introduction
A seasoned and innovative IT industry executive-level professional with over 25 years of experience in application development and enterprise information technology. Over the past 13 years, that focus has been in the web-application paradigm and the experience has been primarily in building high-volume, content focused web-applications that have a revenue focused business model. June 2007 – Present – Director of Emerging Technologies

Evaluate emerging trends, leading vendors, products and services and determine their fit with strategic initiatives. Prototype business opportunities – and build working sites that can be transitioned to real businesses. Work with outside designers and developers, and manage a focused internal technical team of resources towards these same goals. The primary mission of this position/department is to be focused on new opportunities and act as a jump-start to building a business around these opportunities.

February 2010 – September 2010 – Worked on CMS system and led the development of CMS API for use by multiple sites in the sportingnews.com family.

June 2009 – March 2010– Converted portfolio.com off of legacy CMS system to an open-source solution, and launched it on Amazon’s EC2 service.

February 2001 – June 2007 – Director of Technology, Bizjournals

Manage technology initiatives and technical product development for bizjournals.com. Manage a staff of eleven professionals including designers, developers, project managers, and systems administrators. Responsible for implementing new technology, and managing the day-to-day operations. Manage and oversee operations and administration of primary and redundant data-centers.

May 1999 – February 2001 – Senior Web Developer

Responsible for creation of the Electronic Book of Lists and corresponding data-collection processes and procedures. Product was launched January 2000. Created a Visual Basic based application for users to manage/manipulate the data provided within this product called BOLCM (Book of Lists Contact Management). Also responsible for creation of data-collection processes and data repository for various local and municipality public data. This information was provided to subscribers of print publications and made available for sale as part of a data product.

Integrity Companies – Louisville Ky.
May 1997 – May 1999 – Senior Software Engineer
Senior web developer focusing on building an online product for brokers to manage and track their annuities. A team focused effort, the technology was innovative for it’s time using advanced secure login using the SecurID technology and connectivity to an elaborate Sybase operational data store (ODS) and data warehouse. A variety of technologies were used in this application including Microsoft IIS and ASP, JavaScript, Windows Scripting Host, Sun’s JDK, VB 5.0, and many others.

Tupperware World Headquarters – Orlando, Fl.
January 1993 – May 1997 – Senior Software Engineer
Involved as a senior software engineer in various components of their distribution system. Primarily worked on a field order-entry system used by 300 remote distributors of Tupperware products. The system communicated orders to a mainframe for fulfillment. Also was involved in the development and support for an application to import check information from a check encoder, and post this payment data directly to an order entry system to determine payment sufficiency for orders. Technologies used; primarily Foxpro (DOS 2.6, and Windows VFP 3.0).

ActiveSys Development Group – Orlando, Fl.
December 1992 – May 1999 – Principal and IT Consultant
Worked with many customers across several states on IT projects ranging from simple data entry applications to robust legacy applications with advanced functionality, to robust websites and web-applications. Managed a team of freelance developers and designers in an agile development environment on several concurrent projects. Also provided long-term contract-programming to several large companies.

Other Relevant IT related Experience
May 2001 – Present, Infant Swimming Resource, Orlando Florida
Managed IT strategy and provided oversight for all ISR technology considerations. Assisted in the development of an online registration system, and helped towards a Salesforce.com integration for managing their nationwide Instructor force and registration database.

October 2002 – Council for Entrepreneurial Development, Research Triangle Park, NC – InfoTECH 2002, Speaker.
Served as a participant / speaker in a panel-discussion about what technology trends would be on the radar for managers in the coming years. The audience consisted of 300-400 North Carolina entrepreneurs.

August 2003 to present, Class Action Claims Management, Charlotte NC
Served as technology advisor and on board of directors for CACM. Was engaged in decision making for IT strategy and assisted in finding critical talent for development projects.
